MASJED SOLEYMAN DAM AND POWER PLANT‎

PERIOD:‎1995 – 2010‎

EMPLOYER:‎ Iran Water and Power Resources Development Company

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ This dam is on Karun river, it is a clay core rockfill dam, ‎and ۱۷۷ m high at base. It has ۵ radial spillway gates with ‎an inflow of ۲۳۰۰ m۳/s (PMF). The power plant consists of ‎four ۲۵۰-MW turbine generators.‎

LOCATION:‎ ‎۲۵.۵ km away from northeast of Masjed Soleyman town

STAGE:‎ Masjed Soleyman Dam was impounded in ۲۰۰۰, and power plant ‎units were connected to the national grid between ۲۰۰۲–۲۰۰۳, ‎minor and complementary work of the project lasted until ‎‎۲۰۱۰.‎

MOSHANIR’S ROLE:‎ Moshanir has performed all phases of engineering services ‎including reconnaissance, phases ۱, ۲ and ۳ based on a joint ‎venture agreement.‎

BAKHTIARI DAM AND POWER PLANT

PERIOD:‎ Commenced in June 2005‎

EMPLOYER:‎ Iran Water and Power Resources Development Company

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ Double curvature concrete arch dam, height ۳۱۵ m from ‎foundation, foundation height ۱۰ m, crest length ۵۰۹ m, ‎foundation width ۵۰ m, crest width ۱۰ m, reservoir capacity ‎‎۴۸۴۵ million cubic meters, reservoir surface area ۵۸.۷ km۲, ‎reservoir length ۵۹ km.‎

LOCATION:‎ In lower part of Bakhtiari river in Lorestan Province and in ‎southwestern slopes of Zagros Mountains

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS:‎ The world’s tallest double curvature concrete arch dam ۳۱۵ m ‎in height, the country’s second largest artificial reservoir ‎after Karkheh with a capacity of ۴.۸ billion cubic meters at ‎normal elevation, negligible damage caused by the reservoir ‎in terms of social issues, power plant capacity ۱۵۰۰ MW.‎

SIAHBISHE PUMPED STORAGE DAM AND POWER PLANT

PERIOD:‎ ‎2003 – 2014‎

EMPLOYER:‎ Iran Water and Power Resources Development Company

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ Upper dam is a concrete-face rockfill dam which is ۸۲.۵ m ‎tall, ۲۱۵ m wide at its foundation. Its reservoir has an ‎active storage capacity of ۳.۶ million cubic meters, the ‎lower dam is also a concrete-face rockfill dam, ۱۰۲ m tall, ‎‎۳۸۲ m wide at its foundation, the reservoir has an active ‎storage capacity of ۳.۸ million cubic meters, the powerhouse ‎is an underground pumped storage type with four vertical ‎Francis turbines.‎

MASJED SOLEYMAN POWER PLANT DEVELOPMENT PROJECT‎

PERIOD:‎ ‎2009 – 2013‎

EMPLOYER:‎ Iran Water and Power Resources Development Company

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ Underground power plant in continuation of the phase 1, ‎installation of four 250 MW turbines and generators

LOCATION:‎ ‎25.5 km away from north east of Masjed Soleyman city

STAGE:‎ Construction work finished in 2009, but some minor and ‎complementary work has continued until 2013. Power plant ‎units were connected to the national grid between 2007–2009‎

MOSHANIR’S ROLE:‎ Moshanir has performed all engineering services including ‎reconnaissance, phases 1, 2 and 3.‎

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS:‎ By construction of this project, total production capacity ‎of Masjed Soleyman Dam and Power Plant has increased from ‎‎1000 MW to 2000 MW, and major part of production during low-‎load and intermediate-load hours has been transferred to the ‎peak load. Average annual power production is 3700 GW/h ‎which ranked first among the country’s hydro power plants.‎

SECOND POWER PLANT OF DEZ DAM

PERIOD:‎ ‎2007 – 2010‎

EMPLOYER:‎ Khuzestan Water and Power Authority

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ Construction of an underground power plant at the right bank ‎of Dez Dam, and four ۱۸۰-MW turbine generators with a total ‎capacity of ۷۲۰ MW

LOCATION:‎ ‎۲۴ km away from northeast of Dezful and Andimeshk cities

STAGE:‎ Completion of phases ۱ and ۲ of engineering studies

MOSHANIR’S ROLE:‎ Moshanir has carried out engineering services based on a ‎joint venture agreement, and assisted the employer in ‎selecting the contractor and commencing the construction ‎work.‎

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS:‎ The current power plant of Dez Dam has a capacity of ۵۲۰ MW ‎which will increase to ۷۲۰ MW after optimization. By ‎construction of the second power plant, the total capacity ‎will reach ۱۴۴۰ MW. By this project, a significant portion ‎of the energy generated during mid night will convert into ‎the base load.‎

SECOND POWER PLANT OF SHAHID ABBASPOUR DAM‎

PERIOD:‎ ‎1994 – 2010‎

EMPLOYER:‎ Khuzestan Water and Power Authority

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ Total length of tunnels is 3300 m, total length of vertical ‎shafts is 600 m, total length of grouting and drainage ‎galleries is 1032 m, dimensions of powerhouse cavern are ‎‎145x26x49 m, total excavation volume is 460,000 m3, total ‎concrete volume is 200,000 m3, total reinforcement weight is ‎‎17,000 tons, total length of grout curtain is 30,000 m, ‎total length of drainage curtain is 10,000 m, four 250-MW ‎vertical Francis turbines.‎

SARDASHT DAM AND POWER PLANT‎

PERIOD:‎ ‎2009 – 2013

EMPLOYER:‎ Iran Water and Power Resources Development Company

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ A clay core rockfill dam with a ‎height of 114 m from river bed has been anticipated and its ‎reservoir capacity is about 380 million cubic meters. A ‎tunnel with a length of about 4.4 km was also designed to ‎supply the necessary water for the remote power plant of ‎Sardasht in south of dam in order to realize potential ‎production of 150 MW.‎

LOCATION:‎ Sardasht district

STAGE:‎ Provisional delivery of diversion tunnels and access road ‎was carried out.‎

MOSHANIR’S ROLE:‎ Moshanir as the consultant on the project is responsible for ‎providing all engineering services through a joint venture ‎agreement.‎

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS:‎ ‎150 MW of hydroelectric power production, agricultural ‎water supply for 7,800 hectares of land surrounding the dam, ‎power grid frequency regulation and power production, short-‎term job creation during dam construction, and long-term job ‎creation by the agricultural land surrounding the dam

SECOND POWER PLANT OF MAROUN‎

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ This power plant with a capacity of ۱۵۰ MW is an underground ‎power plant ۷۶ m long, ۲۱ m wide, and ۵۱ m high. The ‎powerhouse consists of two vertical Francis turbines and two ‎‎۷۵۰-MW vertical synchronous generators with mean annual ‎energy production of ۳۸۰ GW/h.‎

CHITI DAM AND POWER PLANT OF LALI CITY‎

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ Chiti dam has a catchment area of about ۸۶۴ square ‎kilometers. Mean annual inflow to the reservoir is ۶۸۵ ‎million cubic meters per year and the main purpose of this ‎dam is hydroelectric power generation. Dam body is made of ‎concrete, its height is ۱۳۵ m, and total volume of the ‎reservoir is ۶۰۰ million cubic meters.‎ The powerhouse consists of two units with an installed ‎capacity of ۷۲ MW and its mean annual energy production will ‎be ۱۸۴ GWh/year.‎

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ Earth-fill dam with clay core and run-of-the-river above-ground power plant, Crest length is ۳۸۵ m, height from river bed is ۳۱.۵ m, and total volume of reservoir is ۶۶.۵ million cubic meters. The powerhouse consists of two ۱۱۰-MW units. Design water head is ۱۹ m, design discharge head of units is ۵۱۶ m۳/s, and mean annual energy production is ۹۹۴ GWh.

LOCATION:‎ Southwest of Tajikistan, near Ghazal Gozar village (About ‎‎۱۸۰ km away from south of Dushanbe city)‎

STAGE:‎ End of construction work, at the stage of elimination of ‎powerhouse defects.‎

UMA OYA DAM AND POWER PLANT

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ Diversion of ۱۴۵ million cubic meters of water from Uma Oya basin to the Kirindi Oya basin, and irrigation of ۵۰۰۰ acres of farmland, and annual energy generation of ۲۵۰ GWh via ۲x۶۰ MW Power Plant units.

NEKA COMBINED-CYCLE POWER PLANT

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ Construction of steam unit of Neka Combined Cycle Power ‎Plant, with a nominal capacity of 160 MW, secondary ‎combustion furnace (S.F.), recovery boiler, and once-through ‎seawater cooling system

LOCATION:‎ ‎25 KM away from Northeast of Neka City, Mazandaran Province

STAGE:‎ Commissioned and permanently delivered. At present TPPH is planning to extend Neka combined cycle power plant. The execution works will be started in the near future.

MOSHANIR’S ROLE:‎ Engineering services, design review, and site supreme ‎supervision.‎

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS:‎ Design of recovery boilers with secondary combustion furnace ‎as well as use of seawater for cooling system with once-‎through condenser in compliance with environmental ‎considerations, construction of catchment basin 1100 m in ‎length and app. 200 m in width, construction of main and ‎auxiliary breakwater structures for two steam generators of ‎combined cycle power plant, the second steam unit will be considered in the Neka development program.‎

ABADAN COMBINED-CYCLE POWER PLANT

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ This power plant consists of 12 gas units and 6 steam units, ‎with a total capacity of 2880 MW, running on natural gas as ‎primary fuel and gas oil as the backup fuel. The cooling ‎systems used for steam units of this project are of Heller ‎type.‎

KHORRAM ABAD‎ COMBINED-CYCLE POWER PLANT

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ KhorramAbad Combined Cycle Project is under construction in one block consisting of two gas units each of 162 MW and one steam unit of 160MW , totally 484 MW of class E type. The cooling system is of ACC type and the boilers are of two-pressure with supplementary firing.

WESTERN KARUN POWER PLANT

PERIOD:‎ 2013 – 2014

EMPLOYER:‎ Petroleum Engineering and Development Company

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ This project consists of one combined-cycle block including ‎two gas units and one steam unit with a nominal capacity of ‎about 500 MW. The auxiliary projects include gas and water ‎supply to the power plant, and construction of 230 KV ‎transmission lines and substation.‎

LOCATION:‎ ‎35 Kilometer away from Southwest of Ahvaz

STAGE:‎ Basic design for gas pipeline, gas pressure regulating stations, water transmission line and water treatment plant auxiliary projects finished and also, supreme supervision, engineering supervision and site supervision for substations and power transmission lines are in progress.

MOSHANIR’S ROLE:‎‎ For construction of power plant based on a BOO contract, the ‎major duties of the engineer include supervision on ‎engineering and construction of Western Karun Power Plant.‎ In construction of auxiliary projects, Moshanir is in charge ‎of preliminary studies, basic design, ‎preparation of scope of work and tender documents, ‎cooperation with the employer in tendering and determination ‎of winning tenders, site and supreme supervision.‎‎

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS:‎ Given the distinctive characteristic of the project as an ‎embedded strategic tank, and to prevent fuel leakage into ‎surrounding area, some methods such as use of geo-membrane ‎below the foundation and outer side of tank concrete wall as ‎well as use of water sealing materials in form of plaster ‎and repair mortar on inner and outer sides of the tank wall ‎have been used.‎

JAHROM GAS TURBINE POWER PLANT

PERIOD:‎ 2005-2016

EMPLOYER:‎ Iran Power Development Company

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ This project consists of 6 V94-2 gas units, each unit with a capacity of 162 MW, 130 kV Substation, running on natural gas as primary fuel and gas oil as backup fuel. The power plant is 1052 m above sea level.

LOCATION:‎ Kilometer 25 of Jahrom – Shiraz road

STAGE:‎ At the stage of reviewing of final invoice by the client‎

MOSHANIR’S ROLE:‎ In this project, in addition to the Engineering services of whole power plant, Moshanir Company had the role in procurement preparing of BOP2 equipment contains petroleum tanks & connections.

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS:‎ Jahrom power plant project according to the EPC contacting activities for Moshanir Company.

Dibis Gas Power Plant in Iraq

PERIOD:‎ 2019-2021

EMPLOYER:‎ Sunir

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ The power plant consists of two (2) gas units of V94-2 type

LOCATION:‎ In Iraq, Kirkuk Province near Dibis City

STAGE: Two turbine – generator units are installed on foundation. Erection of fuel tanks and auxiliary mechanical & electrical works is started and it is expected that the first unit is connected to the Grid before the next summer.

MOSHANIR’S ROLE:‎ Moshanir has the task of overall supervision and prevision an installation in this project.

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Successful guidance of the project can have important results for Moshanir related to the performance of engineering services in abroad which can have positive effect on obtaining projects from abroad.

KERMAN COMBINED-CYCLE POWER PLANT

Shirvan Combined Cycle Project

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ The existing power plant has six (6) gas units of V94-2 type each with the capacity of 159MW. The purpose of the project is the installation of three (3) steam units of 160 MW each and conversion of the gas units to the combined cycle blocks.

LOCATION:‎ The power plant is located in 12th km of south-east of Shirvan city.

STAGE: The first steam unit was synchronized in 28/09/2017 and was taken over provisionally to the operator in 30/04/2018. Also the second steam unit was synchronized in 21/07/2019 and was taken over provisionally in 31/10/2019. The third steam unit in under construction.

ARMENIA NATURAL GAS PIPELINE

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: The Iran-Armenia gas pipeline is ۲۸ inches in diameter and about ۴۰ km long from zero point border to Kajaran city, the initial capacity of pipeline is about ۴ million cubic meters of natural gas per day. In this project, in addition to the main pipeline, launcher and receiver stations, methanol injection, condensate collection and cathodic protection system will be constructed along the pipeline.

LOCATION: In continuation of Iran-Armenia gas pipeline, this project starts from Norduz border region adjacent to Aras River and continues along the route from Meghri to Kajaran cities.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ Line length is more than 146 km. The tower is a concrete ‎telescopic lattice tower, and the line is 400 kV single ‎circuit double-bundle conductor transmission line. This ‎line consists of 49 towers. The optical fiber used in this ‎project has 24 cores with a diameter of 10.5 µm, 120 kV and ‎‎210 kV insulators have been used in this project.‎

TEHRAN 230 kV CABLE PROJECT‎

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ A concrete canal was constructed under Tehran streets in ‎order to install Tehran 230 kV underground cable. The ‎canal’s inner width, inner height and length are 1.5 m, ‎‎2.5 m and 25 km, respectively. The canal’s depth is 4.4 m ‎below asphalt surface along the cable route. This canal was ‎designed in the form of 20 x 70 prefabricated concrete ‎segments. Installation of two circuits of 230 kV oil-filled ‎underground cable, four circuits of 63 kV XPLE cable with ‎telecommunication and control cables are anticipated. ‎Specifications of 230 kV cable are: copper conductor, ‎corrugated aluminum sheet, 1600 m2, 1250 A.‎

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ The shortest distance between the island and land for ‎overhead transmission line was selected with a length of 3300 m. Two specific features of this ‎project were the necessity of using very long spans and ‎making necessary arrangements for installation of tower in ‎the sea which were implemented. The tallest tower used in ‎this project is about 140 m in height and 135 tons in ‎weight. Pad size is 30 x 30 x 70 and chimney is ‎‎70 m high.‎

230 kV HIGH-CAPACITY TRANSMISSION LINES OF SOUTH KAVEH STEEL COMPANY AND SABA STEEL COMPANY

PERIOD: 2010 – 2011

EMPLOYER: South Kaveh Steel Company

TECHNICAL SPECIFICAITONS: 230 kV single-bundle conductor double-circuit transmission line was constructed for the first time in Iran using high capacity Drake/TW/AW conductor. The towers are very tall telescopic towers (35 m from bottom current and 50 m from peak of the pole).

MOSHANIR’S ROLE: Moshanir was responsible for geological studies, routing, surveying, line design, tender for purchase and construction, and supervision on construction operations.

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS: For the first time in the country, high capacity Drake /TW/AW conductor was produced and installed, and while power transfer increased from 280 MW to 500 MW per circuit, it led to 35% of financial savings compared with two-bundle conductor. Due to severe pollution of the region, composite insulator with Cree page 10,600 mm was supplied and installed for the first time.

ROYAN-HASSAN KEIF 230/63 kV QUAD-CIRCUIT TRANSMISSION LINE

PERIOD: 2006 - 2014

EMPLOYER: Mazandaran Regional Electric Company

TECHNICAL SPECIFICAITONS: Canary and Lynx conductor, canary core shield (ground) wire, lattice towers M4S-03, M4T-10, M4T-30 and M4T-60, standard ceramic insulators 100, 120 and 160 KN, composite post insulators

LOCATION: Between Kelardasht district – Royan 75 km in length

STAGE: The first 10 km from Kelardasht district has been fully operated and the rest is in the phase of foundation construction.

MOSHANIR’S ROLE: Engineering services, survey work, site supervision

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Transmission rate of new towers is twice as much as the existing quad-circuit towers, and the transfer power of the new design increased using compact phased array. Another major feature of these towers is the shortest lateral dimension than existing towers, decreased from 22 m to 14 m, so that the construction of single-circuit line is done without any increase of right off way. Among other merits is the significant decrease of tower weight by 40%.

A pipeline and six pumping stations are used to transfer 123 million cubic meters of water from Zhaveh dam annually.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:‎ Tehran Metro Line 3 is 33 km long, with 28 km as a subway and 5 km elevated. This line consists of 26 stations which connects northeast of Tehran to southwest. This line and lines 1, 4, 6, 7 and 8 will cross each other.

LOCATION:‎ This line starts from Lashgarak highway in northeast Tehran and by passing through Imam Ali Highway (PBUH), Madjidiyeh, Shahid Beheshti Avenue, and crossing Vali-e-Asr Avenue, it goes to Rah Ahan Square, Javadiyeh, Ghale Morghi, Azadegan Highway, Chahar Dangeh and Eslamshahr.

TEHRAN-MASHHAD RAILWAY ELECTRIFICATION

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: The track is ۹۲۶ km long. Power supply to electric trains is done through high voltage substations as well as ۳ x ۲۵ kV substations feeding the overhead catenary system.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: 132 kV submarine cable of Kish Island is designed for electrical energy transmission from nearby Aftab Port (Garzeh) to Kish Island. This transmission line will be 21 km long all of which will be laid on the Persian Gulf bed, between Kish Island and the main island. It is required to mention that this submarine transmission line will consist of two parallel cables with a distance of 150 m from each other.

Health Impact Assessment of Wastewater Treatment Plants (Vavan-Eslamshahr, Parand, Baharestan, Robat Karim)

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Preparation of Health Impact Assessment report has been approved as per paragraph (b) of Article 32 of the Fifth Development Plan and the resolution dated June 15, 2013 passed by the Supreme Council for Health and Food Security, and also a set of national health standards for major development projects such as wastewater treatment plants have been notified to all executive bodies. In this regard, this project reviews the impact of construction of the above treatment plants on health of the personnel and residents of the project, review of treated wastewater utilization method and the method of sludge disposal in the treatment plants.

The treatment process in all plants is based on A2O with anaerobic digestion of sludge. The project specifications are as follows:

• Parand treatment plant includes four modules and eight flow lines, the liquid effluent part of the module 1 is under operation, the second module is in progress and the other two modules have not been constructed.

• Robat Karim treatment plant comprises two modules and four flow lines, module one is under construction and the other one has not been constructed yet.

• Eslamshahr treatment plant is composed of three modules and six flow lines, module one (a half module is under construction and a half module is under operation), and the other two modules have been constructed yet.

• Baharestan treatment plant is composed of three modules and six flow lines where none of modules has been constructed yet.

IMMUNIZATION AND CONTROL OF GAS NETWORK IN THE GREATER TEHRAN

PERIOD: 2007 – 2014

EMPLOYER: Tehran Province Gas Company

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Seismic retrofitting of central control building, and mechanical equipment and buildings of gas pressure reducing stations, installation of SCADA and control systems of gas pressure reducing stations and gas shutoff equipment

LOCATION: Tehran city

STAGE: Basic and detailed designs are completed, and retrofitting of some stations has been done

MOSHANIR’S ROLE: Engineering phase including basic and detailed design, preparation of technical specifications of tender documents for the above parts and supervision on construction

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS: In this project, buildings and mechanical equipment of Tehran gas reducing stations are seismically retrofitted. Local and remote monitoring systems protect gas stations and network against earthquake through gas shutoff. In this project, a seismically retrofitted central control building will be constructed for remote monitoring and control of the stations as well as for control of Tehran gas network in critical and normal situations.

VIBRATION MONITORING IN 63 kV SUBSTATION ENVIRONMENT OF DOROUD CEMENT COMPANY

PERIOD: May – November, 2008

EMPLOYER: Bakhtar Regional Electric Company

TECHNICAL SPECIFICAITONS: Commissioning of 63 kV substation of Doroud Cement Company after construction was not possible due to environmental vibrations of the company’s vibrating machines. Moshanir, in form of a project for Bakhtar Regional Power Company, provided some appropriate solutions to reduce the vibrations in order to enable the Employer to operate the said substation.

MOSHANIR’S ROLE: Identification of the existing conditions through collection of technical documents regarding vibration producing devices, soil mechanical and dynamic properties of the area, dynamic characteristics of the considered equipment and their foundations, control building drawings, and other necessary documents, as well as performance of tests to measure and assess the amount and characteristics of the vibrations transmitted to the substation, equipment modeling and performance of required analyses to investigate the impacts of vibrations on the considered equipment.

PREPARATION OF SEISMIC DESIGN MANUAL FOR POWER TRANSMISSION SUBSTATIONS

PERIOD: 2009 – 2011

EMPLOYER: Tavanir Company

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Subject of this project is “preparation and formulation of guidelines for design of main equipment and buildings for power transmission substation against earthquake loads” in order to be used by consultants and those involved in power industry of the country.

MOSHANIR’S ROLE: Review of previously performed studies and guidelines, review of similar modern guidelines and standards of the world, comparative study of the above guidelines and Iranian Earthquake Code (2800), determination of the criteria and standards associated with each of the structural, electrical, and mechanical sections as specified in the said code, preparation of substation visit checklists regarding seismic issues, formulation of a special guideline to perform geotechnical studies and geological surveys through definition of criteria and factors in the design of this part, preparation of guidelines for earthquake risk analysis for each substation in order to achieve the seismic parameters of the area and the criteria to be enforced.
